Call for Articles/Editorials

Fall 2007 - Volume 37, Issue 1

The Collegiate Journalist (TCJ) is an online magazine published by the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ) and housed on the SCJ web site at www.scj.us/tcj.

TCJ publishes original scholarship addressing the challenges facing journalism educators and students, and an exploration of the impact of those challenges on college publications. TCJ (1) showcases articles that focus on problems in college journalism; (2) introduces readers to “best practices” for college journalists and educators; (3) supports the promotion of ethical journalism through identification, analysis, and implications emanating from personal, social, cultural, global, and professional issues in journalism; and (4) publishes important and relevant articles and editorials that focus on the challenges of preparing future journalists.

Volume 37 of TCJ is slated for online publication in the Fall 2007. Please consider submitting an article or editorial addressing the theme of “The State of Journalism Education.” Articles/editorials using this theme will address topics including, but not limited to:

  • First Amendment and college journalists

  • Preparing/educating future journalists
  • Case studies of current legal battles
