TCJ Call for Articles/Editorials

The Collegiate
Journalist (TCJ) is an online
magazine published by the Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ) and housed on
the SCJ web site at www.scj.us/tcj.
TCJ
publishes original scholarship addressing the
challenges facing journalism educators and students, and an exploration of the
impact of those challenges on college publications. TCJ (1) showcases
articles that focus on problems in college journalism; (2) introduces readers to
“best practices” for college journalists and educators; (3) supports the
promotion of ethical journalism through identification, analysis, and
implications emanating from personal, social, cultural, global, and professional
issues in journalism; and (4) publishes important and relevant articles and
editorials that focus on the challenges of preparing future journalists.
Volume 37 of TCJ is
slated for online publication in the Fall 2007. Please consider submitting an
article or editorial addressing the theme of “The State of Journalism
Education.” Articles/editorials using this theme will address topics including,
but not limited to:
- First Amendment and
college journalists
- Private schools vs.
Public school and information access
- Preparing/educating
future journalists
- Case studies of current
legal battles

Submission and Review Process
Article and editorial
submissions for the first online issue should be postmarked or emailed by March
15, 2007. Send all articles/editorials in electronic format (Word, Word
Perfect, RTF) to:

Articles/editorials should
not exceed 10 pages (excluding references, tables, figures, and appendixes) or
2500 words and should be double-spaced in Times New Roman 12-point type with 1”
margins. Please include a title page that contains the title of the article, and
the name, institutional affiliation, address, email, and telephone number.
Upon acceptance of
articles/editorials for publication in TCJ, authors agree to assign
copyright of their manuscript to SCJ. Authors must provide copies of figures,
graphics, and artwork (artwork should be delivered as .jpg or .gif files).
Articles should be considered online publications. Therefore, some TCJ
content will be featured in a non-linear format. Navigation of articles will be
edited to fit the flow of each article and editorial. Authors will be notified
concerning publication date by email. |
